Introduction

Stryde is a territory-conquest app for running, walking, and cycling, operated by Nine Five Limited (“Stryde”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use the Stryde app and our websites, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights and choices you have. We do not sell your personal data. If you have questions about this policy or your data, contact us at support@getstryde.app.

Information We Collect

We collect:

  • Account information — your email address, display name, and profile photo if you add one. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a verified identifier and email address from that provider (and, for Apple, the name you choose to share).
  • Activity data — GPS routes, distance, pace, duration, cadence, splits, elevation, heart rate where available, the territory you claim, and any activities, photos, or comments you choose to share.
  • Health and fitness data— if you connect Apple Health, the data described under “Health and Fitness Data” below.
  • Data from connected services— if you connect a third-party fitness service, the activity data it sends us, as described under “Connected Services” below.
  • Location data— precise GPS location while you record an activity, as described under “Location and GPS Data” below.
  • Subscription and purchase data — your subscription status and transaction details for Stryde Pro and Pro gifts, provided by our payments partner. We do not receive your full card details.
  • Device and diagnostic data — a device push-notification token, and diagnostic information such as crash reports and basic device and performance data.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to record your activities and calculate distance, pace, and territory; provide leaderboards, clubs, and social features; manage your Stryde Pro subscription and gifts; send notifications you have enabled; diagnose crashes and improve reliability; and respond to support requests and keep your account secure.

Location and GPS Data

Precise GPS location records your route and calculates the territory you claim. Location is collected while you are recording an activity, including in the background while an activity is in progress, so tracking continues if your screen locks or you switch apps while recording. We do not collect your location when you do not have an activity in progress. On Android, activity tracking uses a foreground service rather than background-location access. Privacy controls let you make your account or individual activities private and limit who can see your location-derived data.

Health and Fitness Data

Connecting Apple Health is optional and off until you turn it on. When connected, Stryde syncs in both directions. It reads: workouts, walking and running distance, heart rate, active energy burned, step count, VO₂ max, body mass, height, resting heart rate, date of birth, and workout routes. It writes back the activities you record in Stryde, including walking and running distance, active energy burned, heart rate, and workout routes. Health data is used only to power your own statistics and activities within the app. It is never used for advertising and is never sold. You can disconnect Apple Health at any time in the app, and manage Stryde's Health permissions in your device settings.

Connected Services

You can optionally connect third-party fitness services — Apple Health, Wahoo, Polar, Hammerhead, and Garmin. Connecting is off until you turn it on. From the connected cloud services (Wahoo, Polar, Hammerhead, and Garmin) Stryde receives your activity data — GPS routes, distance, duration, and where available heart rate, cadence, power, and calories — so that those activities appear in Stryde. This is inbound only: we do not send your data to them. Apple Health is the only service Stryde also writes back to, as described above. To keep a service connected we store an access token on your behalf; you can disconnect any service at any time in the app, which revokes our access.

How Your Information Is Shared

Stryde is a social app: other users can see your profile and, according to your visibility settings, your activities, routes, and territory. Some features — the discovery and local feeds, leaderboards, and nearby-user suggestions — surface activities and users to people who do not follow you. You control this: you can make your account private, set the visibility of each activity, and hide the start and end of your routes.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising. We share data with service providers who process it on our behalf only to provide their part of the service: Apple and Google (sign-in, when you choose those options); RevenueCat and the Apple App Store (subscriptions, gifts, and payments); Mapbox (maps and routing); Sentry (crash and error reporting, processed in the EU); Expo, with Apple Push Notification service and Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notifications); and Open-Meteo (weather, using approximate location). Each provider's own privacy policy applies to its handling of data. We may also disclose information where required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Stryde, our users, or others.

Data Retention and Deletion

We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from your profile settings in the app, or from the account-deletion page on our website. When you delete your account, your associated data — including your activities, territory claims, GPS routes, and profile — is permanently deleted from our systems immediately, and within 30 days from our backups. Deletion is irreversible. We may retain limited information where we are legally required to, such as records relating to purchases.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you have rights over your personal data. In the UK and EEA these include the rights to access, correct, and delete your data, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to data portability, as well as the right to complain to a supervisory authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). You can exercise many of these directly in the app by editing your profile, adjusting your privacy settings, or deleting your account, or by contacting us at support@getstryde.app.

International Data Transfers

Some of our service providers are located outside the UK. Where we transfer personal data internationally, we rely on the safeguards required by law, such as the UK's International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, or transfers to countries recognised as providing an adequate level of protection. Our diagnostic data (Sentry) is processed in the EU. Connected fitness services you choose to link are operated outside the UK — Wahoo and Hammerhead (SRAM) in the United States, and Polar in Finland (EEA).

Children's Privacy

Stryde is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us at support@getstryde.app and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of Stryde after a change takes effect means you accept the revised policy.
