Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026
Introduction
Stryde is a territory conquest running app that lets you claim streets, defend your ground, and compete with other runners. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how you can control it.
By using Stryde, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. We will never sell your personal data to third parties.
Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Account information — your email address, display name, and optionally a profile photo when you create an account.
- Run data — GPS route coordinates, distance, average pace, duration, and cadence for each run you record.
- Health data — heart rate, if you have a Bluetooth heart rate monitor connected during a run. This data is stored securely on our servers and is never sold or shared with advertisers.
Location and GPS Data
Precise GPS location is collected only during active runs — when the app is open and you have explicitly started a tracking session. We do not collect background location data when the app is closed or when tracking is not active.
Location data is used solely to record your run route and calculate territory claims on the map. Raw GPS coordinates are stored securely and are never shared with advertisers or third-party data brokers.
Health and Fitness Data
Heart rate data, cadence, and pace metrics are collected when available from connected devices. This data is used only to display your personal run statistics — your split times, effort zones, and training trends within the app.
Health data is never shared with third parties and is never used for advertising purposes.
Third-Party Integrations
Strava — if you choose to connect your Strava account, we access your Strava activity data (runs, distances, and paces) with your explicit permission via Strava's OAuth flow. We use this data only to import your runs into Stryde. You can disconnect Strava at any time from Profile → Settings → Connected Apps. Upon disconnection, we stop accessing your Strava data.
Google Sign-In — if you sign in with Google, Google's authentication service is used to verify your identity. We receive only your name and email address from Google. Google's own privacy policy applies to that authentication flow.
Data Retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data — including your runs, territory claims, GPS routes, and profile information — is permanently deleted from our servers within 30 days.
You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Settings → Delete Account. This action is irreversible.
